This beautifully printed 192-page book provides a solid overview and background of aromatherapy and herbalism, safety information and a large selection of herbal remedies and aromatherapy recipes for use (as the name states) during pregnancy, birth and while breastfeeding.

Clinical Aromatherapy: Essential Oils in Practice
Author: Jane Buckle, RN, PhD
Updated with more studies, tables and references, the third edition of Clinical Aromatherapy is a hefty 412-page book that focuses on the use of essential oils in a healthcare setting. Dr. Buckle gives a good overview for each topic and as appropriate, she describes the traditional drugs and procedures that are commonly used for treatment and follows with essential oil/aromatherapy alternatives and applicable research and case studies.

Complementary Nursing in End of Life Care
Author: Madeleine Kerkhof - Knapp Hayes
Complementary Nursing in End of Life Care is a crucial book for health care practitioners, aromatherapists, educators and all of those that provide palliative and end of life patient care. It addresses essential oil usage and safety for numerous applications while also addressing other complementary modalities including massage and aquacare.

Essential Oils for the Whole Body: The Dynamics of Topical Application and Absorption
Author: Heather Dawn Godfrey, PGCE, BSc
Enriched with numerous tables, charts and color photographs, Essential Oils for the Whole Body is a comprehensive essential oil guide that is well suited for those who are new to using essential oils and also serves as a helpful reference for practitioners and those with a more advanced background.

Holistic Aromatherapy for Animals
Author: Kristen Leigh Bell
Holistic Aromatherapy for Animals acts both as a reference as well as a readable textbook (216 pages). Kristen Leigh Bell's presentation and writing style are informative and intriguing, and I appreciate her emphasis on safety issues.
