Essential Chemistry for Aromatherapy, in conjunction with The Chemistry of Aromatherapeutic Oils by E. Joy Bowles, are the two books I would recommend first to those that are new to essential oil chemistry or to those that struggle with the concepts of chemistry.

Sue Clarke's writing style is clear and straightforward, helping the reader to grasp and comprehend each chapter and section.

Incorporated throughout the book are "Aromafacts" that provide interesting and enlightening facts pertaining to topics they are integrated into.

Both Essential Chemistry for Aromatherapy and Essential Chemistry for Aromatherapy are offered in paperback format. The dimensions of the books make it more convenient to handle than traditional hardcover textbooks.
