At long last, we are fortunate to have a book available that focuses upon CO2 Extracts for use within holistic aromatherapy, with an emphasis upon clinical applications.

Madeleine Kerkhof, author of CO2 Extracts in Aromatherapy, has been working professionally with CO2 Extracts for at least 13 years. She resides in the Netherlands and holds a strong professional background in nursing, aromatherapy, herbalism and hydrotherapy. Her expertise includes the clinical use of CO2 Extracts for palliative and end of life complementary care. The About This Book & Me section of her book provides much more detail about her background and expertise.

The focus of the book lies upon the use of CO2 Extracts for medicinal and clinical applications. Having said that, Madeleine Kerkhof has a lovely, personable writing style that should make it possible for most everyone who has a solid understanding of essential oils and aromatherapy to benefit from the introductory material and the profiles presented in the book.

Throughout the pages of CO2 Extracts in Aromatherapy, Madeleine Kerkhof includes brief case studies, examples and helpful comments offered by a wide array of aromatherapy authors, educators and experts including Rhiannon Lewis, Li Wong, Elizabeth Ashley, Marge Clark, Mikki Anderson, Priya Ganatra, Kaman Cheung, Marika Fleri and Marco Valussi.

Each of the 50+ profiles included within the book averages approximately 1 page in length. Some profiles include especially helpful blends and formulation advice. The specifics for each profile depends upon whether the CO2 is used primarily as a base oil (carrier oil/lipid) or as an essential oil (aromatic CO2).
