Most aromatherapy texts do not provide in-depth coverage regarding the vegetable (carrier) oils used within aromatherapy and skin care applications. Carrier oils can very significantly in the nutritive value that they possess, and other factors including their processing methods can greatly affect the benefit of the final oil.

Carrier Oils for Aromatherapy & Massage by Len Price provides an overview of carrier oils, monographs (profiles) for 60 carrier and macerated oils, an introduction to the chemistry of the oils and other relevant information regarding the carrier oils used within aromatherapy, massage and other topical skin care applications. It also covers some oils not commonly used within these fields.

This text is published as a 325-page paperback edition.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This review covers the fourth edition of this book. The fourth edition significantly expands on the content contained in the third edition (The third edition is only 187 pages).

All editions of Carrier Oils for Aromatherapy & Massage appears to be out-of-print, and is presently only available through Amazon third-party sellers. Despite its availability shortage, it's worth keeping an eye on Amazon.com and picking up a copy when available. Although Amazon lists the copyright date for the fourth edition as 2000, my physical copy of the fourth edition specifically states "This edition first published 2008."
