The Blossoming Heart is a title that can be hard to locate, but is a wonderful treasure to find and grab up if you can.

It is a beautifully written and wonderful addition to the library of aromatherapists and aromatherapy enthusiasts who want to pause from studying the chemistry and the physically therapeutic properties of essential oils and delve into exploring the esoteric and emotionally healing/transformative possibilities of essential oils.

Zeck uses the concept of an emotional barometer to help visualize the idea of using particular essential oils to transform from a negative emotional state to moving in the opposite and positive direction to gain balance. For example:

Bergamot: Encouraged/Saddened
Clary Sage: Clarity/Stagnant
Jasmine: Trusting/Fearful
Juniper: Joyful/Distressed

Complementing the other nine chapters, Chapter Six: The Essential Oil Reflections includes 56 (if I counted right) essential oil profiles that describe the emotional properties of each oil, based on Zeck's interpretations. For each profile, Zeck describes the emotional attributes for each oil and beautifully embellishes each profile with her thoughts how the oil can restore or enhance particular emotional states.

The Blossoming Heart is beautifully and captivatingly written. Beginners to holistic aromatherapy can easily comprehend much of what Zeck writes, but I do not recommend this as a first or second book on aromatherapy.
