Aromatic Waters by Amy Kreydin is a perfect introduction to understanding what hydrosols are and how to knowledgably shop for and use these wonderfully beneficial waters. Amy's writing style is inviting and friendly. Scroll down to the table of contents to view the hydrosol topics that are covered. I especially like that Amy made a point to discuss the important aspects of hydrosols distilled in copper.

At the center of Aromatic Waters is a helpful selection of 34 hydrosol profiles that includes an interesting overview of the botanical as well as its common name, botanical name, botanical family, plant parts used, odor profile, flavor (when applicable), safety considerations, biophysical actions, and recommendations on how/when to most suitable use the hydrosol. For many hydrosols, a recipe is also included. As the title of the book implies, the range of recipes includes a selection of therapeutic, beauty/cosmetic and culinary creations. If I counted correctly, there are over 30 hydrosol recipes included. A sampling: Cold Zucchini Soup, Rose-Tulsi, Cordial, Hydrosol Eye Compress, Aromatic Honey Syrup, Frankincense Gel Serum, Peach-Ginger Agua Fresca, Mouthwash and many more.
