Watermelon Seed Oil
Citrullus lanatus
Watermelon Seed Oil (WSO) is a very nourishing yet light oil with good absorption. It is a good choice for use with oily skin but can be effective with all skin types.
Watermelon Seed Oil is considered a light, primarily polyunsaturated carrier oil because it predominantely contains linoleic acid, an omega-6 fatty acid. It also tends to contain up to about 30% oleic acid, an omega-9 fatty acid that is monounsaturated in nature.
The viscosity, mild aroma and 2 year shelf life of Watermelon Seed Oil make it a great all-purpose carrier oil for use in aromatherapy.
Thicker and heavier feeling carrier oils can be blended with Watermelon Seed Oil to lighten their overall texture and aroma.
