Aromatherapy Massage Oil Recipe
Using safely formulated essential oil massage blends can enhance the benefits of the massage. Massage blends can be formulated that focus upon easing sore muscles, easing stress, promting relaxation or even encouraging sensuality. Several suggested blends are shown below to get you started.
Ingredients
- 1 fl. ounce carrier oil such as Sweet Almond Oil
- 10-12 drops essential oils. Select oils that will compliment the goals of your massage and that are not contraindicated or unsafe to use by the giver or recipient of the massage.
Massage Blends
Below are a few simple essential oil massage blends that focus upon a particlar goal while smelling incredible.
Massage Blend for Stress
- 1 fl. ounce carrier oil such as Sweet Almond Oil
- 6 drops Clary Sage
- 2 drops Sweet Orange
- 3 drops Lavender
Aphrodisiac Blend
- 1 fl. ounce carrier oil such as Sweet Almond Oil
- 8 drops Sandalwood
- 2 drops Jasmine
Restful Blend to Promote Sleep
- 1 fl. ounce carrier oil such as Sweet Almond Oil
- 5 drops Roman Chamomile
- 5 drops Lavender
Sore Muscle Blend
- 1 fl. ounce carrier oil such as Sweet Almond Oil
- 2 drops Ginger
- 1 drops Black Pepper
- 4 drops Peppermint
- 5 drops Marjoram
Directions
Mix the oils from the chosen blend well and store in an airtight, dark glass container.
To Use
Apply only a small amount (1/2-1 teaspoon) for each massage. Avoid wounds, sensitive skin, the genitals, eyes, nose, mouth.
