My Favorite Essential Oil Blend for Anxiety
This anxiety essential oil blend has proven to be remarkably helpful to me, and I want to share it with others who may also benefit from it.
I created this calming blend for myself back in 2016 when I was going through an intense, complicated and bittersweet year. It helps makes me feel more at ease during stressful and anxious situations.
I personally refer to it as my "Bliss Blend," but I do not mean to potentially infringe on any essential oil company that may already be using this as the name of one of their blends.
This anxiety blend focuses upon essential oils that are abundant in linalyl acetate and other esters. Personally, I find linalyl acetate and other esters really helpful in supporting me when I have anxiety or am facing fearful, uncertain situations.
For additional anxiety blends that use fewer essential oils, read Aromatherapy Recipes for Anxiety.
Ingredients for 5ml Master Bottle Blend
- 2 drops Neroli Essential Oil
- 20 drops Bergamot Essential Oil
- 20 drops Bergamot Mint Essential Oil
- 20 drops Petitgrain Essential Oil
- 15 drops Clary Sage Essential Oil
- 15 drops Lavender Essential Oil
- 15 drops Roman Chamomile Essential Oil
Drops as a measurement are used in this recipe as this blend is not intended for topical use, and it is intended to be as easy as possible to create. This blend is not intended for mass duplication/commercial sale. For the most accurate measurements and ability to reduplicate a blend, measuring by weight is recommended.
Supplies
- 1 clean 5ml glass bottle with dripper insert/orifice reducer (if desired)
Directions
Add the number of drops specified above to your clean 5ml glass bottle, and then insert the dripper and screw on the cap, making sure both are on properly. Then, gently shake the bottle to blend the essential oils.
Test Batch Suggestion
If you're not sure you'll like the above blend, please consider making a reduced size "test batch" before making the amount specified above. To make a test batch that should wind up being between 1-2 ml in quantity, work with these amounts:
- 1 drop Neroli Essential Oil
- 7 drops Bergamot Essential Oil
- 7 drops Bergamot Mint Essential Oil
- 7 drops Petitgrain Essential Oil
- 5 drops Clary Sage Essential Oil
- 5 drops Lavender Essential Oil
- 5 drops Roman Chamomile Essential Oil
Directions for the Test Batch: Add the number of drops listed in this test batch section to a clean 2ml glass bottle, and then insert the dripper and screw on the cap, making sure both are on properly. Then, gently shake the bottle to blend the essential oils.
The aroma of the test batch will be slightly more dominant in Neroli (even with just a mere single drop), but it otherwise should closely resemble the aroma of the 5ml formulation instructions above.
Tips and Comments
Everyone is different, and this essential oil anxiety recipe may not work for you, or it may not work as well for you as it does for me. However, this blend can be a great starting point in your quest to build your own personal anxiety blend that works best for you.
The ratios can be tweaked if you personally love Lavender, for example, and want to increase the ratio of lavender. Just please be sure to carefully read and take heed of the safety guidelines for each essential oil that you decide to work with in this and all of your formulations.
I personally love including Neroli Essential Oil for its beautiful aroma and calming properties. However, you can still certainly work with this recipe even if you do not have Neroli or any of the other essential oils available.
If you like Vetiver or Spikenard and want to make this blend deeper and more grounding, you could try adding a couple drops of Vetiver or Spikenard and see if you find that helpful.
