Aromatherapy Recipes for Anger
These four essential oil blends can help promote a sense of calm during times of anger. Everyone can respond to essential oils and blends differently. These blends are offered as a starting point and as inspiration in discovering the anger management blends that work best for you.
When selecting and using essential oils, be sure to follow all safety precautions and remember that aromatherapy should not be used as a substitute for proper medical treatment.
Anger Blend #1
- 1 drop Rose Essential Oil
- 3 drops Sweet Orange Essential Oil
- 1 drop Vetiver Essential Oil
Rose Essential Oil can be a powerful oil for helping to soothe general feelings of anger and anger that stems from deeper feelings of grief, loss and loneliness. Vetiver Essential Oil is particularly grounding and calming. Orange Essential Oil is uplifting and energizing, and can help encourage a positive outlook of the future. It can also help sweeten and balance the deep aroma of the rose and vetiver essential oils.
Anger Blend #2
- 3 drops Bergamot Essential Oil
- 1 drop Ylang Ylang Essential Oil
- 1 drop Jasmine Absolute
Bergamot Essential Oil is a beautiful citrus essential oil that is abundant in Linalyl Acetate, making it both uplifting and calming/balancing at the same time. I consider an adaptogenic essential oil that can help ease anger and support balance when needed. Ylang Ylang Essential Oil and Jasmine Absolute are both beautifully floral essential oils that can both help encourage a calm outlook and soothe anger when used judiciously.
Anger Blend #3
- 2 drops Bergamot Essential Oil
- 2 drop Roman Chamomile Essential Oil
- 1 drops Petitgrain Essential Oil
In this blend, I also use Bergamot Essential Oil at a slightly lower dilution. In place of the very floral Ylang Ylang Essential Oil and Jasmine Absolute, I substitute Roman Chamomile Essential Oil. While still a floral essential oil, it is softer, fruitier and sweeter and is quite calming. Petitgrain Essential Oil blends well with these two oils and I chose it to give more publicity to this beautiful oil that is so helpful in promoting a sense of clarity, calm and the release of anger.
Anger Blend #4
- 3 drops Sweet Orange Essential Oil
- 2 drops Patchouli Essential Oil
Patchouli Essential Oil is a very grounding essential oil. Even if you aren't a fan of the aroma on its own, it's a wonderful essential oil to work with in low dilutions as it can be very supportive in helping to combat negative emotions such as anger. Orange Essential Oil is uplifting and the sweetness and top notes that it offers combines and synergizes wonderfully with Patchouli Essential Oil.
