Do Not Add Essential Oils to Dryer Sheets

Do Not Add Essential Oils to Dryer Sheets

Essential oils are flammable. Do not add essential oils to dryer sheets.

Instead of making your own dryer sheets, consider this alternative combination:

Use White Vinegar in Place of Fabric Softener in the Wash

As "smelly" as that may sound, white vinegar is a wonderful and cost effective natural way to soften clothing. Once your clothes are dried, the vinegar smell disappears. See AromaWeb's Fabric Softener Recipe for more information.

Use Wool Dryer Balls

Wool Dryer Balls help to soften clothing while simultaneously reducing the length of time it takes for your load to dry, thus saving energy. Don't add essential oils to them. I've been using them for many months now and love them. See AromaWeb's Wool Dryer Balls page for more information.

Scenting Clothing After It Has Fully Dried

Instead of taking the risk of using flammable essential oils to wash or dry your clothing, wait to scent your clothes until after they are washed and dried. Making your own aromatic sachets is a wonderful way to naturally fragrance your clothing without incurring the risks of using essential oils in the dryer. AromaWeb's Wool Dryer Balls page describes making your own aromatic sachets.
