Simple and Natural Fabric Softener Recipe

vinegar

With just one ingredient, vinegar, this "recipe" couldn't be easier...

In the kitchen, I love salads and recipes that include vinegar, especially natural infused vinegars. On its own, however, the harsh fragrance of vinegar is definitely not an aroma that I deliberately seek out.

Despite its abrasive smell, vinegar is affordable and does soften clothes when added to the rinse cycle. Vinegar can also help to eliminate soap residue build-up on clothing.

Directions

In place of commercial fabric softener, add 1/2 cup of vinegar to laundry during the rinse cycle.

Precautions

Avoid balsamic and other dark vinegars as they may stain clothes. Avoid using vinegar with delicate fabrics or with fabrics that may have been dyed with colors that are not steadfast. Do not use more than 1/2 cup of vinegar per rinse cycle.
