Mouthwash Recipe Using Essential Oils
- 6 fl. oz. Water
- 1-2 fl. oz. Vodka
(Water may be substituted for the vodka. The vodka helps to kill germs and helps keep the essential oils emulsified.)
- 4 drops Peppermint or Spearmint Essential Oil
- 3 drops Myrrh
Combine the water and optional vodka into a 8 oz bottle. Add the essential oils, shake well and tighten the cap. I prefer a bottle with a flip top as that makes it easier to pour.
Baking Soda Variation
Frugal Living on About.com offers an easy baking soda mouthwash recipe that could be adapted to the AromaWeb recipe shown here (I haven't tried it myself yet).
Essential oils do not stay mixed in water based formulations, so it is necessary to shake the mouthwash well before every use. Use as you would other mouth washes. Do not swallow.
