Vitex Hydrosol

Vitex agnus-castus

Vitex Hydrosol

Vitex Hydrosol is pleasant, crisp and rather sweet. At times, I find that it seems to have a slightly mint note to it.

Botanical Name

Vitex agnus-castus

Aromatic Strength

Medium

Shelf Life

Up to 2 years if stored properly (refrigeration is recommended).

Reported Properties, Uses and Applications

Little is documented about Vitex Hydrosol, but it is definitely considered a "woman's" hydrosol. It's often recommended in place of the stronger and more volatile Vitex Essential Oil for use with PMS and balancing the hormones.

Safety Information

Read AromaWeb's Hydrosol Safety Guidelines.

Due to its potential effect on the hormones, pregnant women should avoid its use.
