Aromatherapy and Herbal Remedies for Pregnancy, Birth, and Breastfeeding is a beautifully printed 192-page book that provides a solid overview and background of aromatherapy and herbalism, safety information and a large selection of herbal remedies and aromatherapy recipes for use (as the name states) during pregnancy, birth and while breastfeeding.

Demetria Clark includes lists of essential oils to completely avoid as well as essential oils to avoid during pregnancy. Her list (and thus also her recipes) differ in some ways from that presented by Robert Tisserand and Rodney Young within Essential Oil Safety, Edition 2. That is, of course, expected as different experts base their recommendations and precautions on their differing experiences and access to research. Armed with both books, those who are pregnant can gain a solid foundation for integrating aromatherapy safely into the pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Description from the Back Cover:

Time-Honored Remedies for Contemporary Women

This comprehensive sourcebook explains how essential oils and herbal remedies can provide natural, alternative solutions to the myriad health care needs that arise during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Let the experienced hand of aromatherapy and midwife Demetria Clark guide you through exploring the safe, gentle, and effective treatments for conditions specific to this transformative time fo life.

Essential oils, the keystones of aromatherapy, can be inhaled or used in topical preparations. Herbal remedies can also be used topically in a variety of formulations and can be taken internally via lozenges, syrups, teas, and tinctures. Demetria carefully outlines which essential oils and herbs are safe to use (and which aren't) for each stage of this amazing process, from pregnancy, labor, and birth to breastfeeding and recuperating from delivery. In addition, she provides instructions for a wide range of aromatherapy and herbal remedies that can be easily prepared and used at home.

Demetria offers expert advice on how to select, use, and store essential oils, along with valuable information on how to purchase, grow, harvest, and even wildcraft plants. An endlessly valuable resource, this book is sure to be cherished and passed down through the generations.
