AromaWeb recommends the book Holistic Aromatherapy for Animals instead of Veterinary Aromatherapy. Veterinary Aromatherapy is described below for comparison.

Veterinary Aromatherapy is a 116-page book that focuses on aromatherapy for animals and pets. Although the concept of this book is wonderful and there is some very helpful information, I have some serious concerns over some of the recipes that the author includes. Some recipes call for EO of "mint" (Mint? Are we talking Spearmint? Cornmint? Peppermint? Watermint? - I hope I'm not the only one that realizes there is a difference in properties and safety with the various menthas). Other recipes include Sassafras EO (highly toxic), and no recipes that I have skimmed through include the botanical names of the oils. Additionally, the recipes call for huge amounts of oils often to make even diffuser blends that exceed several ounces. I'd much prefer if the author provided smaller recipe amounts so that the reader won't waste a lot of precious essential oil if the blend doesn't work in his/her situation. I also notice in several recipes that are intended for external application that there is a very high ratio of essential oil to carrier oil. For instance with humans, a proper dilution is often 1-5% essential oil into carrier oil. In recipes I'm seeing in this book, some are at 33% to 50% dilution. I'm no animal expert, but these extremely high ratios concern me. 

Please note that I have not read this book in its entirety. I, however, am so concerned with what I have read that I doubt I will read this book in its entirety. It is possible that I have overlooked specific safety precautions the author has included. Most people, however, don't read aromatherapy books front to back - they go to the topic of interest, so the safety info and caveats applying to any topic should be there for the reader to see.
